7 ways to beat your worries

Can’t stop worrying? Try out my seven ways to beat the bother and boost your happiness. Whilst worrying is necessary for spurring us on to achieve our goals, chronic worrying can disrupt the balance in our nervous system and be detrimental to our health. Here are seven ways to wash away your worries.

Tip 1: Forget the things you can’t change

If you’re worrying about something that’s happened in the past, you need to stop. The power of your mind isn’t strong enough to solve problems through panic, so it’s important to beat your worries by thinking logically and tackling them head-on. Bad memories from the past are toxic to our health and highly counterproductive so you must bury the burdens of your past and move on.

Tip 2: Write a worry list

Write down everything you’re worried about; the bills, your job, the car MOT – everything. Then rate them on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the things that are concerning you most. You can then turn your worry list into an action list. Take action on the worries that you rated the highest first, and then work through the rest of the list. You will feel a sense of relief each time you tick a worry off, and this is a sure-fire way to boost your happiness and relieve your worries.

Tip 3: Discipline your thoughts

If you’re a chronic worrier, you need to learn to take control of your thoughts rather than letting them take control of you. To do this, every time you think a negative thought, you must turn it into a positive. Every time you worry, think “is this really helpful?” If the answer is no, turn the thought into a positive or forget it completely. Whilst this may seem difficult at first, it will eventually become second nature and you will find that turning a negative into a positive is a much more constructive way of dealing with your thoughts.
Tip 4: Distract yourself through relaxation
When we’re worried – particularly about a number of things at once – our brains don’t tend to find a logical solution to our problems. In order to think logically, we must take the time to relax and unwind. Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. After a couple of minutes of relaxation, the tension will leave your body and you will be in a better position to tackle the problem from a fresh perspective.

Tip 5: Talk to friends and family

A problem shared is a problem halved. Talk to your family, your friends, or a doctor if you have a good relationship with them. Sometimes saying your problems out loud can get your thoughts straight in your head and if you’re worrying about something useless, saying it out loud can make you realise that it’s just not worth the worry. With those close to you, you can laugh, cry, and moan as much as you like without being judged and this is a healthy way to relieve stress.

Tip 6: Confront the problem head-on

Some worries can’t be tamed through talking to others or relaxation. A problem that won’t go away until you physically do something about it needs to be confronted head-on. Sometimes, we have so much on our mind that we don’t know what to deal with first. Make a decision on which problem you want to solve and how you will go about it, and then stick to it. You will probably find that once you resolve the problem, you’ll wish you’d done something about it sooner.

Tip 7: Put things into perspective

Don’t be overwhelmed by small things; try and see the bigger picture. Is your problem really as bad as you’re making it out to be? The chances are there will be many people worse off than you. Instead of zoning in on certain things and panicking about them, put everything into perspective. Does this problem affect your entire life? Will you still be panicking about this in a few weeks or months time? If the answer is no, then it’s really not worth the worry.

Weirdest Restaurants In the World

Here are my top 10 favorite and most weirdest restaurants, in no particular order.
Have fun reading! :)

10. Tree House Restaurant (New Zealand)

"Let Your Fingers Do the Walking"

The Tree House Restaurant was created in New Zealand for a marketing campaign for Yellow Pages. In order to prove that something big can be completed using the Yellow, they built this restaurant 10 metres up a redwood tree. The whole construction took only 66 days!

Linking to the pod-shaped restaurant is a tree-top walkay to provide easy access. The Tree House Restaurant can seat 30 peas or can accommodate 50 peas standing. Okay, I couldn't help it. I meant guests and not peas. :)

9. A380 In-Flight Kitchen (Taipei)

Named after the Airbus A380, largest airliner in the world

Imagine a flight without security checks, turbulence or even ticketing. A seat with seatbelts and no smoking lights. More importantly, there's more than just fish or chicken for dinner.

Over in Taipei, a restaurant is named after the Airbus A380, the largest double-deck airliner in the world. The A380 In-flight Kitchen looks pretty much like the airliner it is named after. But it has only one floor.

8. Dinner In the Sky Restaurant (Belgium)

Not For the Faint-Heated

Strap on and enjoy the ride! Or rather, your meals! :)

The Dinner In the Sky restaurant in Belgium is definitely not for anyone with Acrophobia (fear of heights). Once you're strapped to your seats, the diner will be hoisted 50 metres up in the air, suspended by a crane.

According to Wikipedia, The Dinner In the Sky Restaurant is called one of the world's ten most unusual restaurants by Forbes magazine. I myself call it one of world's most exciting meals.

Hope they provide airsickness bags up there.

7. Ithaa Restaurant (Maldives)

World's First Underwater Restaurant

Ithaa means pearl in Dhivehi.

It was designed in New Zealand and was supposed to be built on the beaches of Rangali. But due to limited resources, technical difficulties and quality control issues, the decision was then made to have the structure constructed in Singapore and then transport it back to Maldives. It is the world's first underwater restaurant, mostly made from acrylic and secured five metres below sea level at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in Rangalifinolhu, Maldives.

The five-by-nine meter restaurant has a capacity of 14 people and offers a 270° panoramic view. Meals range in cost from US$120.00 (lunch for hotel guests on Full Board meal plan) to US$150.00 (dinner for hotel guests on Bed & Breakfast meal plan).

You can also spend the night at Ithaa at a rate of a whooping US$11,710 per night! If you do, Ithaa will be closed for the evening for you to stay overnight and I would love to hear your experience!

6. Modern Toilet Restaurant (Taiwan)

Hmm... What's That Smell?

A toilet-themed restaurant in Taiwan proved to be a huge draw. It's called Modern Toilet Restaurant and has now at least 12 outlets all over Taiwan. Not only do customers seat on a toilet, they also get to chomp down food off plates and bowls shaped like toilet bowls and squat toilets or urinals.

The price ranges from 150 to 250 Taiwan dollars ($6 - $10) for a meal set including soup and ice cream. Customers, however, flock to Modern Toilet Restaurant mainly for its quirky dining wares and interior decor.

5. Opaque Restaurant (United States)

Is that Pasta Sauce on Your Mouth? Ahh.. Nevermind.

The Opaque Restaurant allows its customers to experience dining on a whole new different level by heightening our sense of taste, smell and touch. It's not the first to introduce dining in the dark, but its famous for it and it comes with a twist.

Customers place their orders in a lighted room before being guided by the blind to the pitch dark area to have their meals. The waiters are visually handicapped but are trained to provide customers a unique experience!

They have 3 outlets in San Francisco, San Diego, and Santa Monica.

4. Count Dracula Club (Bucharest)

HA HA HA...!

Coming up at 4 is Count Dracula Club. HAHAHA...! Travel back in time as you enter Count's castle. This campy restaurant in Bucharest, Romania is a hit among tourists. It consists of many rooms, each with its own atmosphere. There is the Medieval Room, Transilvanian Room, Hunting Room, The Cellar and many others.

Those who have watched the film or read Bram Stoker's classic novel, Dracula, shouldn't have any problems spotting Count. Food prices are quite reasonable, with main courses from $3.00 to $7.50 HAHAHA...!

3. Buns & Guns Restaurant (Beirut)

"A sandwich can kill you."

That's the motto for Buns & Guns, a fast-food restaurant that was located in Sfeir, a southern suburb of Beirut. This military-themed restaurant was filled with military decors such as fake assault rifles, and camouflage netting, as well as recorded helicopter and gunfire sounds.

Manager Yussef Ibrahim says that the theme reflects the mood of the city during Lebanon's 2006 war with Israel, and that while some patrons may find it disturbing, most are amused. You can order yourself an M16 Carbine meat sandwich, a Mortar burger or a Terrorist meal (which happens to be vegetarian). Dishes were also served with names of weapons like Kalashnikov and Dragunov.

According to Wikipedia, the restaurant was found to be closed when last visited in October 2009. A new fast food restaurant, named 'Shoot', had opened up in its place. According to an employee, the restaurant had been sold a few months before. The theme of the new restaurant had no longer anything to do with guns, but was instead focused on sports ('Shoot' referring to a basket ball or a football, as seen in the new logo).

2. Clothing Optional Dinners (Manhattan)

Don't Worry. The Windows Are Covered.

In Manhattan, a social event is created by nudist activist, John J. Ordover. Clothing Optional Dinners happens once a month where nudists or naturists gather in various restaurants around Manhattan. Once they enter the restaurant, they will disrobe to nothing, either in the restrooms or right in the dining room, and carry on as per normal. Each patron will have to bring a towel to sit on and their motto is "No hot soup".

Such gatherings will definitely raise a few eyebrows, but the mention of actually attending such a gathering is sure to elicit the exact same look on everyone's face. And really, the windows will be covered.

1. Cannabalistic Sushi (Tokyo)

Nom, Nyom, Nyotaimori

Last but not least in the Top Ten menu, is Cannabalistic Sushi. The idea of this restaurant in Tokyo, Japan came from Nyotaimori, an extremely rare practice of serving sashimi or sushi from the body of a woman, typically naked. What's interesting about this restaurant, is that patrons do not eat what's on the body, but rather, the body itself!

Patrons are presented with a "human body" made from dough on what may seem to be an operating table and is rolled out into the dining room. Red sauce is added for life-like bleeding and the internal organs are lovingly and accurately reproduced with sushi and sashimi. You can choose between male or female bodies.

Conclusion

So there you have it. My list of the Top 10 Weirdest Restaurants around the globe.
I'm sure there are a lot of strange restaurants out there but are probably in obscured places.
If you know of any, do share with everyone as we would definitely love to hear them!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you've enjoyed your visit here.

World’s 10 best Festivals

Being at festivals is like standing inside the mind of a culture as it dreams. They have the ability to be both extremely intimate and public spectacles at the same time. Here are 10 of the world’s best festivals. Let yourself go.

Mardi Gras, USA

New Orleans: early January. This famous two-week festival features parades headed by ‘Kings’ and ‘Queens’ leading a flotilla of garish floats manned by ‘krewes’ who throw trinkets to the crowds (who usually beg for it; if they don’t, female krewe members bare their breasts in encouragement). The culmination is the wicked mayhem of Mardi Gras Day (also known as Fat Tuesday), when all inhibitions are let loose. The next day, Ash Wednesday, is the first day of Lent, when abstinence prevails, making Fat Tuesday the ultimate excuse for a piss up, a knees up and a throw up.

Carnaval, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro: early February. This is sex and samba on a stick, drawing around a million people each year for its throbbing, fourday-long festivities. The centrepiece is the Sambódromo parade, when neighbourhood groups compete against each other for the title of best ‘samba school’; flashy floats and nearly nude women feature prominently. The Masquerade Ball is almost as breathtaking, rammed to the gills with celebrities and mere mortals alike, all bemasked, bewigged and becostumed. Wear a G-string (thong) for best results.

Kanamara Matsuri, Japan

Kawasaki: 31 March & 1 April. Japan is a study in contradictions. Here’s a society that bans pubic hair from being shown in films, yet holds this absolutely bonkers fertility extravaganza. The ‘Festival of the Steel Phallus’ features transvestites carrying a whopping great pink penis through town while onlookers of all ages suck on phallus-shaped lollipops, kids straddle penile swings, and adults carve radishes into penises. The festival was originally held to ward against a syphilis surge in the 17th century and now raises money for AIDS research.

Semana Santa, Guatemala

Antigua: Easter. Semana Santa commemorates the Passion, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection in a week of feverish worship. Statues of Jesus are paraded through streets layered with flowers, pines and fruits in various designs – some up to a kilometre (0.6mi) long. Then the sentencing and crucifixion of Christ is re-enacted, complete with Roman centurions and Pilate, while, seemingly, the entire city is draped in black crepe and smelling of incense. Even an atheist’s jaw would drop in awe at the sheer scale and passion of the proceedings.

Il Palio, Italy

Siena: July & August. This heart-stopping event revolves around a bone-crunching, bareback horse race run around the Piazza del Campo; it lasts 90 seconds although the rest of the day is taken up with major-league carousing. The frequently violent race features jockeys from Siena’s 17 neighbourhoods, all traditional rivals (intermarriage is often forbidden). Expect to see riders thudding to the ground with alarming regularity (this truly is a no-holds-barred event) and don’t be surprised to be offered a baby bottle of wine when it’s all over – for the neighbourhoods, a win means rebirth.

La Tomatina, Spain

Buñol; last Wednesday in August. Tomato buffs rejoice! For this is your festival. Each year tens of thousands of people descend on Buñol for La Tomatina, the culmination of a week-long celebration of Buñol’s patron saint. An estimated 125,000kg (275,625lb) of tomatoes are used, driven into the town square by a convoy of trucks. Drunken participants dive in, hurtling the fruit at each other until the streets run red like the sickest splatter film, and then it’s all over – within an hour.

Burning Man, USA

Black Rock City, Nevada; August or September. This week-long spectacle draws 30,000 people, making it Nevada’s third-biggest ‘city’ for that brief period. What exactly is Burning Man? It’s hard to say. The founder reckons it’s a City of Art; the motto is ‘No Spectators’ and you have to contribute something, anything, to that year’s theme. It is forbidden to sell stuff at the festival (the exceptions are the official outlets for coffee and ice) so the friendly bartering of goods between strangers gives the festival a special feel. The entire shebang culminates in thousands of spectators witnessing a giant, burning effigy, possibly inspired by the pagan horror film Wicker Man.

Diwali, India

INDIA : October or November. This five-day festival (also known as Deepavaali or Festival of Lights), which unites all creeds and religions, sees homes all over India lit with lamps and candles to ward off the darkness of evil. The homes are then thoroughly spring-cleaned while the people take the opportunity to buy new clothes and set off an armada of firecrackers, which sees noise-pollution levels rise dramatically (actually, it’s enough to perforate eardrums on the other side of the planet). On top of that, sweets are exchanged as hatchets are buried and grudges are forgotten…at least for now.

Día de Muertos, Mexico

MEXICO : 1 & 2 November. Mexico’s ’Day of the Dead’ does not pay homage to filmmaker George Romero – rather, it’s a two-day festival celebrating the reunion of relatives with their dear departed. Expect colourful costumes, loads of food and drink, skeletons on stilts, parties in cemeteries, skull-shaped lollies and mariachi bands performing next to graves. This beautiful, moving spectacle will demystify your fear of crossing over, because – unlike Halloween’s witches and all-round terror – the Day of the Dead smashes the taboos surrounding death, celebrating the continuation of life beyond and the value of interdimensional communion.

Noche de los Rábanos, Mexico

Oaxaca: 23 December. The ‘Night of the Radishes’ began as a marketing gimmick: when the Spanish first brought radishes to Mexico in the 16th century, they carved them into fanciful shapes to attract buyers (although they didn’t go quite as far as the Japanese; see ‘Kanamara Matsuri’). Today the tradition takes the form of a contest, as local artisans carve tableaux from massive radishes for a cash prize and the respect of lovers of crisp, pungent roots worldwide.
