Forgot to log off your Facebook account on a public computer or a friend’s mobile phone??
This situation might just press the panic button in you for the fear of misuse by some unknown, unauthorized person. But to save you from getting goosebumps Facebook has beefed up its security features to protect your account from any malicious activity.
A few months ago, a new feature was added where you can see if you are still logged in on other devices and logout immediately on those devices using a central control in your Facebook account.
Hence, we have summed up the steps you’ll need to follow to access this central control feature and shut off any unknown or forgotten Facebook session :-
STEP 1> Open your Facebook account on your PC or mobile.
STEP 2> Go to your “Account Settings”.
STEP 3> Go to the Security settings and click on “Active sessions”, you’ll get something like this:-
On this screen you’ll be able to see your most recent activity on your account plus any other sessions that are currently active.
STEP 4>In case you find any unknown activity you can shut it off immediately by clicking on ” End activity”.
Apart from shutting down your unknown Facebook sessions you can even prevent unauthorized login by some easy methods:-
1) GENERATE TEMPORARY RANDOM PASSWORD VIA SMS:-
This method is extremely useful just in case you are logging into your Facebook account in some public area like library, cyber cafe, airport etc. and you feel that your regular password is not safe enough.
Just type “otp” in your message and send it to 32665( or FBOOK). You’ll instantly receive a reply from Facebook with a new password that will be valid only for 20 minutes!
So just in case somebody gets a sneak peek of your temporary password, it would be completely useless!
2) GET LOGIN NOTIFICATIONS:-
You can get login notifications via Email or on your mobile phone whenever you log into your account or if somebody else logs into it.
You need to follow certain steps to activate this feature:-
1) Open your Facebook account.
2) Go to Account settings -> Security -> Click on “Login Notification”, you’ll see something like this:-
You can select from “Email” or “Text message” , the choice is yours.
With these uncomplicated yet out of the box features Facebook has bestowed greater power to its users for maintaining better security of their accounts.
So in case you forget to logout, Facebook will be there for your rescue!!!
SO HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE-
