Tips for PASS IELTS Test

The most difficult part of preparing and giving a foreign language test is the language itself! IELTS is a test set up by the British Council to access the degree of control and exercised by the the person who speaks English as a foreign language. With the right IELTS tips, you can easily score 7 bands! Accent plays a major role of how you fare in the speaking test of IELTS but other sections are pretty much the same for everyone. Many languages do not have the same sounds and phonetics as the English language and people have a hard time getting used to them. Just remember not to panic during any stage of the IELTS test. If you think you’ve made a mistake, try not to lose your confidence. Following are a few tips to help you out for your IELTS test:

10. Proper prepration for IELTS test:

The English language, also known as the Queen’s language, is widespread and the most used language (after Chinese). however, it can be as alien to someone as German or Cantonese. Those willing to shift to the UK or Australia for studies or other purposes should acquire atleast 6.5 bands in IELTS to satisfy the authorities. so, a proper preparation of the IELTS test in required. Make sure you enroll in a certified and well known institute so you don’t waste your time and efforts. Ask friends and family who have attempted the IELTS test about preparation centers and then make a decision.

9. Reading section in IELTS Test:

Reading seems to be the most dreadful section of the IELTS test. Develop a regular habit of reading magazines and newspapers and try to pick up the words as well as writing style to improve both your reading as well as writing skills. Although this is not true, reading does pose quite a lot of difficulties. The best way to attempt the reading section is to read the questions first! The questions at the end always follow the flow of the paragraphs and appear in that order. Read up 5-6 questions before you start reading. As you read, you will automatically find the answers. When you have found all of them, read 5 more and do the same.

8. Rechecking the Reading section:

If an answer is not clear to you, mark the area where you think the answer is and move on. If you have some time left over at the end the Reading section of IELTS test, recheck your answers starting from the ones you recently completed from the end. Be very careful with the true, false and not given questions. Discuss your Reading mistakes with your IELTS teacher (or wife) in the practice and mock IELTS tests and overcome your flaws.

7. Listening section in IELTS Test:

Being the easiest of all the IELTS sections, listening practice is often overlooked which may prove costly at the end. Listening to debates on an English news channel is a pretty good way to prepare yourself for the test. The only way to be good at this IELTS test is to concentrate! Leave any questions you have missed and move on. Do inform the invigilators tight away if you can not hear the recording properly and they will give you another seat.

6. Stalling in Listening section:

The biggest reason of scoring badly on this test is stalling because of one answer and missing the next! sometimes you do tend to confuse words and make faulty judgments. On the whole, listening is an easy test and poses no problem for most of the IELTS students. Just go with the recording and try to give it your best. One or two deducted points are a lot better than stalling in Listening Section and missing or getting everything wrong!

5. Speaking section in IELTS Test:

Speaking section in IELTS Test requires a lot of practice and patience. Do not be shy of making mistakes while speaking. If you already are a good speaker, then this test will be a blessing in disguise. Impress the IELTS examiner and get an overall higher band! Converse in English in daily life and even fight in English if you have to! Talk to yourself in English (whenever you do) and soon it will become a habit. The objective of this IELTS test is to assess whether the interviewee can understand the English and use it to thoroughly explain himself. You will get asked about yourself. What you have to do is to give a brief description about yourself starting from your profession and designation. You can move on to other things but it’s better to be specific and to the point.

4. Cross Questioning in Speaking section:

Cross questioning will come next. Just make sure to explain whatever you are asked but not to overdo it. You can always ask the IELTS examiner any related question as this will give a good and positive impression but be sure to do it at the right time, like at the end of the interview or somewhere before the third part. The third part of the IELTS speaking test is a bit tricky and requires some preparation. As quickly as possible, break up the given topic in questions such as why, when, where and how and write down the salient points during the given 5 minutes. When you start tospeak, do sure to say 2-3 lines on every point and you’ll do just fine! If you have absolutely no clue about the topic given to you, immediately ask the examiner for a new one. Remember IELTS is a language test only and not an intelligence test!

3. Writing section in IELTS Test:

The most challenging IELTS test of them all, writing requires lots of practice. In the article writing section, be sure to break up your debate in three major portions. The first one will describe the topic as well as to elaborate on it and its current standings. The second part is where you go with the idea or against it. Be sure to use proper sentence structure. A few fancy words here and there will work wonders. In the last paragraph, do list a few of the cons and sum up the article.

2.Second part in Writing section:

The other section is about reading and describing a graph of any type. The objective here is to be able to describe in words the degree of change in the graphs over the time. Terminology like rose sharply, fell steadily and sky rocketed are the ones which the examiners look for and approve. Do notwrite more words than asked for as more words means more mistakes! Special care should be taken to not use connecting words again and again when attempting this IELTS test.

1. Relax before the IELTS Test:

No matter how important the IELTS test is to your business or academic career, just keep in mind that it is only a test! Relax before the IELTS test once you have completed your test prepration and the the time has come to give the test. take the load off your mind by talking to someone who has come to give the test or even the friendly inviligators present on the venue! what better way to blow off some steam than to hit up a little chatter!
