If yes, then there is good chance that it is a fake Facebook profile created just to steal your personal information. 

Ever since the facebook has been launched, spammers did not waste time in  creating own tactics & methods to make a use of large database or real users. There are thousands of people who make money everyday from facebook. People use facebook to promote local business, affiliate marketing schemes, getting traffic for websites & click on the paid link. People get paid to sell a facebook page with a Big number of followers.

Apart from that fake profiles are created to spread  hatred, violence against a race, religion or country. There are over 800 million facebook profiles & it is believed to that 15% of Facebook profiles are fake profiles. Facebook deletes or blocks thousands of  fake profiles everyday. So It is important for you to identify the fake profile to protect your personal data.

This is the criteria which will help you out in identifying majority of the fake facebook profiles. 97% of the fake profile holders are pretending to be a female facebook user. If you see a display picture of any woman exposing herself or bikini model, just stay away from it. 

Some times fakers just steal the pictures from other real people's facebook & put it as own  profile picture. Make sure that profile holder has good number of display pictures of a same person.

2. Profile Information:
Genuine facebook users prefer keeping their facebook profile closed for unknown users where as fake profiles are open for everyone to pop in. Some real profile do show personal information, but you can easily spot the fake one because you will find that profile having either 1 liner information about them or too much information about them.

3. Interest:
60% of the fake profiles claim that they are Bisexual which is 6 times of actual figures. Sexual orientation can be alarming in spotting the fake profile. Do check out the pages liked by that user & read about the interest.

4. Friends & Pages
Fakers have six times more friends than real users. Fake profiles love to add as many friend as possible so if you see more than 1000 friends, have a closer look to verify. Anyone with 5000+ facebook friends, that definitely has to be famous personality or a fake profile. But famous people don't send you friend request, do they ?

Likes for the pages like adult groups, money making groups or anything which looks absurd is noticeable. Fake profiles like every random page they see.

5. Photo tags
Fake profiles have a habit of uploading funny pictures, nature -scenery or actor/actress photos. They do tag as many friends as possible to get noticed & that's why fake guys have 100 times more tags compared to the real users. Anyone has been tagged in thousands of pictures, a big No NO.

Other Things to notice
  1. Fake profiles will have lots of other fake profile friends.

  2. They rarely update status.

  3. They don't have any family friends added in the list.

  4. They just keep on sharing same link & ask you to like/share.

  5. They send you app request frequently.
Facebook now has a better techniques such as mobile verification to reduce the spam & fake facebook profiles. Still if you have added anybody in past, just go to that person's account & befriend him.
